Walks
Discovery Walks in and around the Parish of Witley – walks of various lengths exploring the historic landscape, wildlife and built heritage of the civil parish of Witley, Surrey.

As a Millennium project, Witley Parish Council produced a book of walks, as well as two books on the history of the parish. The two histories were reprinted but it was felt that the walks could be updated and put on the website as an alternative to reprinting them. This will allow the Parish Council to continually update the walks as necessary and add further walks in the future.
The walks in the book are being checked and updated and the majority have now been added to our website. If you have an idea for a new walk please contact Councillor Myra Newnes-Smith on Myra@newnes-smith.com to discuss.
The sketch maps on each walk are for guidance - it is recommended that you take the appropriate OS map with you. All the walks are covered by the Explorer maps 133 and 145.
Please respect the Country Code - keep dogs under control in the vicinity of livestock, take your litter home with you and remember it is an offence to pick or uproot any wild flowers. Please close gates behind you.
An indication of the length and difficulty is given for each walk, but these are only a guide - conditions will vary with weather conditions.
Any problems with the paths, stiles or signposts should be reported to Surrey County Council at SCC Report a Rights of Way Problem or by phoning 03456 009 009 stating that it is a Public Rights of Way issue.
Witley Parish Council would like to gratefully acknowledge the contributions made by Valerie Box, Elizabeth Forster, Sally Bray and Marian Muskett to the original project from which these walks have been derived. The council would also like to thank Chris Rogers for his work in producing the much improved maps and Peter Herring for his valued advice on flora and fauna.
The Council has taken all reasonable steps to ensure that these walks are safe and achievable by walkers with a realistic level of fitness. However, all outdoor activities involve a degree of risk and Witley Parish Council can accept no responsibility for any injuries caused to walkers whilst following these walks.
