For those local residents who would like to pay their respects to Dame Penelope Keith, funeral directors will walk her coffin down Portsmouth Road for villagers to say their goodbyes. They will be setting off from the traffic lights by the Catholic Church at about 9:55am on Tuesday 28th July.
Living in the Parish of Witley & Milford, Dame Penelope gave generously of her time and was a familiar presence at community events.
Many will fondly remember her attending the annual Christmas Tree lighting, where she would enthusiastically lead the countdown alongside the children. It was a simple gesture that brought enormous joy and perfectly reflected her warmth, generosity and willingness to support local traditions.
Her remarkable career on stage and screen brought pleasure to millions, but those who met her locally will also remember her kindness, her humour and her genuine interest in the community she called home.
On behalf of the Parish Council, I extend my sincere condolences to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed and remembered with enormous affection.
